SkiStar has evolved from a firm focusing on winter, lifts, and slopes to delivering unique mountain experiences all year. Significant investments have now been approved to help the company enhance its alpine locations in Norway and Sweden. The first will be a new six-chair express lift at Hemsedal, which will open next winter.

The investments, totaling more than $48 million for the fiscal year 2023/24, are mainly focused on winter, a more modern lift system, better slopes, and more efficient snow production. Lodge Express, a new six-chair express lift in Hemsedal, represents a significant investment. Additionally, funds are invested in summer programs and business development.

"We will continue to expand our mountain locations all year, even though the winter season remains our most profitable season. We now invest in improved skiing experiences to secure future mountain tourism and delight tourists. As a result, it feels great to introduce a new express lift in Hemsedal as early as next winter," says SkiStar AB's managing director and CEO, Stefan Sjöstrand.

Hemsedal, often known as Scandinavia's Alps, is Norway's second-largest ski resort, offering a variety of activities for skiers of all ages. Totten, Tinden, and Roni - the resort's three stunning peaks - offer superb skiing down. Hemsedal has a maximum drop height of 830 meters, and the longest slope is six kilometers long.

The new Lodge Express express lift will begin at SkiStar Lodge and transport you 1,733 meters into the facilities. It will provide a far better entry to the ski resort, with a capacity of 3,000 people per hour. To reach the top, guests do not have to ride the bowl lift through the children's area.

"We finally have greater capacity in the ski system, which means even more amazing mountain experiences for everyone visiting us. This signifies a lot for Hemsedal as a winter and summer destination," Andreas Smith-Erichsen, destination manager at SkiStar Hemsedal, explains.
